LIGHT, IN THE DETAILS

Well hello there dear gist partner.

How are you doing this fine day? It’s the last Thursday of January, how has the month being for you? Here’s hoping that your drive continues to increase as the days and months go by.

It’s Guest Feature Thursday!!!! Our first feature for 2026. Our guest for today is someone really dear to my heart, I trouble her a lot but she knows just how much I love her and I am really honoured that she agreed to feature on the blog. To be honest, knowing who she is, I am not surprised about what she has written, she’s one person who is very unapologetic about holding the banner of Christ. I have read what she’s penned down and I believe this is such a necessary message for us as Christians and I hope you’re blessed by it. I call her my HOC Ma’am, but officially her name is Ruth Peter, woman extraordinaire.

Without further ado, welcome to today’s gist.

Greetings everyone. It’s such a delight to be featured on here. I finally get to share my thoughts in this space🤩.

I hope this doesn’t sound like some PR or some marketing though. I am an entrepreneur; I own a brand that handles a couple of things, one of which is clothings; we sell tops, gowns and stuff like that. One of the things I’ve had to learn to do is reject a client with the phrase “sorry, but we don’t sell such things here”.

I am a Christian, unapologetically so, and I strongly believe that my beliefs should reflect in the minutest detail of my life. So, I don’t sell clothes that don’t reflect godliness. If you even send me a sample of dress to be recreated and it doesn’t reflect godliness, I respectfully decline; interestingly, such offers usually  have the tendency to pay more.

As believers, we must reflect the God-life in every sphere of our lives. We can’t turn a blind eye because “it’s just business”. I find it very hypocritical to sell what you can’t wear when it’s not about quality or size. Because many people that sell these revealing clothes don’t even wear them; they’ll tell you they sell it because of market traffic, it sells faster and it’s always on demand. That’swickedness and greed. It’s like leading a blind man to a ditch when you can clearly see the ditch!

I’d really implore you dear friend to be a true reflection of Christ genuinely. Not the “do what I say, but don’t do what I do” type. Not every business is for you, whatever doesn’t uphold the standards of God’s word is not for you. It’s a difficult decision to make and exercise, but it’s one that you need to do. You need to constantly and consistently be a shining light. Let it be that when certain things are sorted for, other people can boldly say “oh, this person doesn’t sell such things ooo”.

But much more than not selling it, let it be that we ourselves don’t wear such.  As a woman, do not join the throng of people that think they can wear whatever they like because “my body, my rules”. It is a wise woman who  carefully chooses her wardrobe with the mindset and knowledge of issues peculiar to men. I am in no way saying you should dress to please men. But as a godly woman, you should know what not to wear. And let me quickly chip this in, people have limited the meaning of decent outfits to clothes that don’t reveal your skin. So, tight outfits look okay, emphasizing outfits look okay, after all, you skin is covered. But if we can guess the size of your intestines because of how snuggly your dress is, how decent is it really?

It’s not just about clothes, in every aspect of life, let every aspect of our lives reflect God to everyone who meets with us.

May God guide our hearts and thoughts to please Him truly, amen.

My HOC Ma’am, thank you so much for blessing us with your words today, may your wisdom never finish and may your light continue to shine bright. And thank you dear gist partner for staying with us till now, I know you’ve been blessed and have learned a thing or two. If you’re looking for really wonderful outfits, or a really good make up artist or you’re looking for someone to produce souvenirs and such for your event, please reach out to GlamAura, ask me and I’ll give you her details, you’re assured of both quality and Godly business.

TUNES AND THOUGHTS: our song recommendation for this week, courtesy of our guest, is ‘Tare’ by Kaestrings. The word means ‘together’ in Hausa, it is a reminder to remain with Jesus. I pray that as you listen, your heart is blessed and that you are drawn to remain with Jesus.
