PAGES OF PURPOSE
Hello there dear gist partner.
How are you doing this last Thursday of October? 2025 is slowly coming to its end, how has the year been for you? How far those your goals wey you write for January? It is my hope that you have the continued drive to push through and make the most of the rest of the year.
Welcome to today’s gist.
I saw something in the book of Revelation a couple of days ago and I thought to share. Chapter 20, verse 12 records: “And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done.” (ESV) Now keep that in mind, let’s run quickly to Psalm 40, verses 7 and 8 and see what David says there; he says: “Then I said, “Behold, I have come; in the scroll of the book it is written of me: I delight to do your will, O my God; your law is within my heart.””(ESV) So in this Psalm, we see that in Heaven, there are what the Scripture refers to as ‘Books’, and in these books, it is written for each person what the will of Heaven is for them and it is to this knowledge of what is written concerning him that David comes which prompts him to say what he did in Psalm 40.
But as important as coming into the knowledge of what is written in the books is, that is not where the matter ends; the question then becomes: “after you came into the knowledge of what is written about you, did you do it?” Because when we stand before what John refers to as the ‘Great White Throne’ (Revelation 20:11), these books will be opened. At this point, it isn’t just a matter of whether your name is in the Book of Life, your name is in the book of life, that’s fine, by reason of the fact that you have received Jesus into your heart, you have your name written in the book of life and you have gained entrance into the Kingdom of God; now for you, your own judgment will come properly from the contents of the books that were written concerning you before you came into this world; these are the books where in it was written, for Achenyo Salifu (I dey use myself as example, put your name as you read), these are the things that are written about her, these are the things that Heaven expects her to do while she is on Earth.
So for those of us that have received Jesus, it is not a question of whether we are saved or we’re going to Heaven, that matter has been settled –we’re on our way there; for us the question for consideration becomes whether it will be found, when the books are opened, that we have done what was written in the books for us to have done.
When God opened my eyes to this, it was a call away from selfishness, a reminder to inquire again into the contents of the books concerning me so that when I stand before God and they are opened, I will be found to have done that which was written for me to do.
And that is my prayer for you dear gist partner: that you go again to God’s drawing board and ask Him again what He expects of you, what He has written for you to do, so that you can again align yourself to His will, so that when we all stand before The Throne, His remark to us will be: “well done, thou faithful servant!”
But if you’re here and you haven’t received Jesus into your heart consciously, your first course of action is to receive Jesus into your heart so that your own name is now in the book of life, na from there the matter of wetin you do in relation to the books go start. You don’t have to wait or delay, today you can receive Jesus into your heart: simply come to Him in sincerity, confess your sins to Him, tell Him that you believe in His power to save you, ask Him into your heart and pledge to live life going forward with Him fully involved and according to His terms. It is after you have done this that you can now begin to talk about the contents of the books concerning you.
May God help us to always remember to do His will.
TUNES AND THOUGHTS: our song recommendation for this week, as you may have already guessed, is ‘Volume of the Book’ by Moses Akoh but this time, I recommend that you listen to the one he did with Theophilus Sunday, 1Spirit and Greatman Takit. This song is always a needed reminder that there are expectations upon our lives, we didn’t just come here to occupy space for a time and then depart, we are here on God’s assignment, we must first know His will for our lives, then we must do His will. I pray that this song calls your heart again to submission to the will of God for your life.

Well, that is that about that as far as that is concerned, see you next month!
Love,
Achenyo.
PS. My sister’s birthday is in 2 days, so please help me say a prayer for God’s blessing upon her.
I read this piece at a time when I'm struggling to accept "some" of the things written about me because I feel inadequate. This is a dare, and a challenge. Thank you, ma'am 🙏
ReplyDeleteHappy birthday in advance to your sister
Thank you for sharing Archie, when I read the Hebrews 10 rendition, I couldn't help but notice that it said that "...a body have You prepared for me..."
ReplyDeleteIt struck me that one cannot come into volume of the book to do God's will except a body (of obedience) is prepared for them because... "...in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing...+ Rom8:17.
The life of doing God's will is the life of Obedience!
This came off as a reminder, that there'll be a day!
ReplyDeleteWould I want to be found wanting when He looks through the Book.
I'm wishing your sister a pleasant new year that God adds life to her years.
