SEASONS

Hello there dear gist partner.

How are you doing this last day of July? How has the month been for you? I pray that you continue to feel God’s presence in your life.

We’re back with Guest Feature! Today’s guest is someone whose insight always has me reeling, every time you hear her speak, or read something she wrote, you can just tell that her waters run deep in God. I’m honored to have her gist with us on the blog and I know that you will be blessed, I call her “Fire”, you’ll understand why when you finish reading, but for official purposes, her name is Jane Ochanya Onoja, Esq.

So, welcome to today’s gist.

When Achenyo invited me to be a guest on her blog, I went through different emotions for different reasons but top of the list was the fact that I felt really honored. You see, Achenyo and I have been through different seasons, beautiful ones and not so beautiful ones but somehow all of it has led us here, because in every season God is working.

God in His creativity curated our lives in seasons and each season is flavored with its own theme; Joy, Sorrow, Love, Heart-aches, Abundance, Lack, Rivers, Dry lands, you name it. Life won’t always be butterflies and rainbows, your walk with God won’t always make you want to pause and yell “I love You Lord!” Sometimes, you’ll sit in His presence and just feel frustration and anger at all the things not going right, you’ll question His plans and get no answers.

Your Education, Career and Love life won’t always give the clarity you need, sometimes it may feel like you are winging it in the dark. Even your spiritual life is sometimes in zig-zags. Your new chapters, and new year, won’t always come with a ‘word’, you may have even crossed over into 2025 with no clear thought or resolutions.

The seasons are always changing in funny ways but guess what? They make us human, they keep our journey interesting even though I’ll admit that they can be awfully hard and very lonely, they are even harder when you try to endure instead of enjoy, when you wait on God without ‘learning the lessons’, when you hope that God comes through but don’t really believe that He has already worked things out for your good: when you don’t have absolute trust in God, everything is harder.

You’ll be amazed at how many good children of God, myself included, think we trust God but in reality we just hope He’ll come through. We know that He is God, we know that He can do great and mighty things but we are not sure if we qualify for miracles, if we can ‘be still’ and let Him move over our seasons. So when I was invited to share a bit of my heart with you, I knew the message was for you to trust God completely

Regardless of whatever strange season you’ve found yourself in, trust that He is so mindful of you enough to make the impossible possible for your good, trust Him with your vulnerability, trust Him with your messiness, trust Him with your confusion, your heart aches, your needs and your doubts, lay it all on God and trust that He will work it out because I bet you, He will.

Eventually, God always comes through for His own and learning to ‘be still’ and trust God has been the highlight of my year thus far.

On its own, trust is a hard thing to do, trusting that God who has billions of souls in His hand will find time to be intentional with you is even harder and the devil knows this so he will taunt you with doubts and feelings of unworthiness but when he comes, say to yourself ‘My soul, be still and know that God will work it out’.

Remember it’s a season and seasons always pass. Sending you a big warm hug as you navigate yours gracefully.

Thank you so much Fire for sharing your thoughts with us, every time I read this, I am blessed again, thank you! May your waters run deeper still.

And thank you dear gist partner for always being here, I know without a doubt that you have been blessed. If you want to read more of the amazing things that she has written, her instagram handle is ajosfire, you should really go there, come and thank me later.

TUNES AND THOUGHTS: our guest on the blog has recommended that we listen to ‘God will work it out’ by Maverick City, Naomi Raines and Other stark Houghton. This song is a reminder that it is a certainty that God will work it out, no matter what your own ‘it’ is, trust that God will work it out, wait on Him and watch Him work it out. I pray that this song blesses your life too.

Achenyo Favour Salifu, Esq.

PS. How far your 2025 resolutions? Only 5 months remaining in the year.

Comments

  1. I recently just had to sit down and ask God why He has been so distant and silent. I was frustrated, and I needed to cry.
I will be still and watch God work everything out for me. Thank you, Ma'am Fire for blessing us
