STILL!

Hi there 🙋🏾‍♀️. 

How are you doing this fine day that the Lord has made, this final day of October 2024? How was the month for you? And how has the year been so far? I pray that God will grant you all that you need in these final months of the year to achieve all that is left for you to achieve. 

Welcome to today's gist. 

You know how we say that the word of God is new every time? No be lie. I recently read one very popular verse in the Bible and God opened my eyes to see something I had never seen there before and I knew when that happened that you guys are going to find me in your faces again this week, e come be like say I for no put una on notice say una fit no see for here because I don come throughout the time wey I say I fit no come. 

Habakkuk 2:20 is one of those unpopularly popular verses of the Bible, you've probably heard it before but you just may not have known where it is found. It says: "But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him." (KJV) Shey you don hear am before?

As I read this verse and was about to move on, I just remembered something! Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:16 that I am God's temple and the Spirit of God lives in me. So when, in Habakkuk, God says He is in His holy temple, He is saying that He is in me!

But that's not all. 

He said the earth should keep silent. What does this mean to me? I understood that this means that the only person permitted to speak within me is God. Nothing else. No voice originating from the earth, sponsored by the devil, is permitted to speak within me. And these voices originating from the earth, what do they speak? Condemnation, fear, anxiety, guilt, failure, despondency, spiritual dryness, sinful compromise, and things of like class (ejusdem generis rule, because I dey prepare for Bar finals and rules of interpretation follow for the preparation, ask your lawyer and law student friends for wetin I mean😅). And these things are lies! They are untrue, how do I know? Because the Bible tells us that the devil is the father of lies (John 8:44) and there is no truth to be found in him; therefore will the father of lies tell you any truth? No! So why should I spend time and emotions believing lies?

These things that are not God-originated, they never speak anything of use to me, they never have any help for me but I could be easily lured into believing their lies, dwelling on them and losing sight of God and all that He's saying to me; I could become so focused on the lies that God's truth does not find a place to rest. The devil knows this and that's why he's insistent about making sure I do not hear from God, but will I agree? No! Recently, I've gotten into the habit of reminding myself that the only testimony I will believe is God's testimony, that only His truth will find rest in my heart, nothing else will speak!

And that's why the earth must keep silence, so that the words of God in, and to, His holy temple will be heard in, and by, His holy temple.

You have a part to play too. Become very active and intentional about denying the devil access to speak to you, refuse to let his voice reign in your heart, decide consciously to hear only God and have only His word take root in your heart. So the next time the devil tries to lie to you and cause you to forget what God has told you, tell Him that THE LORD IS IN HIS HOLY TEMPLE! THE EARTH MUST KEEP SILENCE BEFORE HIM! Continue to silence the voice of the devil when he rears his ugly head and tries to speak to you, don't allow his lies gain ground, choose intentionally to hear God and Him only!

NLS HOT GIST: Two days to go!! I'm starting exams on Saturday and running back to back till I finish. Please pray for me, and all law school students, that God will show Himself mighty in this exams. Meanwhile in other news, I got a certificate of recognition for my outstanding performance and active participation in group tasks, just so you know say no be play I dey play for here. Also, because of the exams, I won't be gisting here on Thursday, I'll be here on Saturday sha, expect me. But if you no see me, you go see me on Sunday or so soon thereafter (again, ask your lawyer and law student friends for what I mean). 

Tomorrow is my older sister's birthday; she's one of the most important people in my life and she's such a blessing to me, please do say a prayer over her whenever you see this even if her birthday was months before you saw it, thanks and God bless. 

Let me be the first to wish you a fruitful sojourn through the month of November. Also, the little Bible plan has a gratitude challenge going on for the month of November; write three things you're grateful for each day, it's a very nice way to get your gratitude on as you approach the year's end and if you're like me, you will find yourself writing more than 3 things each day because really God dey do pass 3 things for you in 24 hours, you could also even find yourself continuing into December till the year ends. Whatever you do, from tomorrow to the end of November, please make sure you're writing down at least 3 things you're grateful to God for each day.

PS. I been think say I no go 'PS' una but I find out that I will: my father is turning 70 soon, in 66 days in fact!
