OR LEHAYOT

Hello there! No worry, if na me be you, I go surprise say I dey post this close to exams but oh well! Na so we see am. How are you doing today? Here's hoping you're fine and that you feel God's presence in very real ways. Welcome to today's gist. So I, like you probably, assumed we would not be gisting anytime till after Bar Finals but I heard something in the early hours of Wednesday morning that I just couldn't help but come tell you about. So I've been joining in on the Hallelujah Challenge, if you haven't you should –you don miss alot but you shouldn't miss any more. And yesterday Apostle Joshua Selman ministered in word and led us to pray. He said a lot of very profound things that registered really strongly in my spirit but this did the most and I decided that I was going to share. He read from Matthew 5:13-16, verse 16 says "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven." (KJV) When he said that, he now said to let something happens means to permit it to occur and so to let your light shine means to permit your light to shine.

In everything that was said, this resonated within me so much, it's been clanging in my heart like a bell since yesterday morning. I went to Merriam Webster's Dictionary to look up the meaning of 'let' and here's what it says: : "to give opportunity to or fail to prevent", "to free from or as if from confinement". This means that we have the ability to confine our light, to prevent it from shining! And if we can do that, it also means we can give our light the ability to shine. I've heard it said that darkness is nothing but the absence of light, so if light is not present in a place, darkness inevitably becomes prevalent and how is darkness dispelled? Simply by the presence of light, in fact the light no need do anything, it just comes and darkness leaves. So when Jesus is telling you to let your light shine, He's telling you that His light is already in you; but you can continue to be surrounded by darkness, being oppressed by it simply because you refused, or failed, to permit your light to shine. And when you let your light shine? Darkness flees immediately, not just from within or around you, but from those you come in contact with, your light shining helps dispel the darkness from others. So, dear gist partner, let your light shine! Permit your light to shine, let people see you shine, point people to Jesus who is the source of all light, and let them glorify God because of your light. May God help us to let our light shine! NLS HOT GIST: Turns out say na me dey calculate the exam calendar wrong oo, exam is in 9 days, not the 8 days I'd have thought before. Yes, we're starting Bar finals on the 2nd of November. We're writing Pre-Bar exams this week, to help us gauge where we dey for our reading and wetin we need to do more. As you dey pray for me, specifically mention Corporate Law Practice, in fact if you will only pray concerning one course for me, let it be this one. In other news, I partook in my last Body of Benchers dinner yesterday and I saw a female Bencher who had her hair cropped short and dyed red! She looked so beautiful! She's the first, and currently only, female SAN from Rivers State. Seeing her was legit the highlight of yesterday's dinner for me. Well that is that about that as far as that is concerned. I no know when next I go see una so, see you when I see you. Love, Achenyo.

PS. Our gist title translates literally to "light be" from Hebrew.
