LAWYERS' CHRISTMAS
Hello there!!!
How are you doing this fine day that the Lord has made? Here's hoping you are fine and if you aren't, I pray God heals whatever it is that ails you.
Welcome to today's gist.
It's call to bar season! I was telling one of my friends that call to bar season always feels like Christmas to me, it's a season of so much joy! Seeing people admitted into the bar never gets old, even more so when the people in question are people you know and love.
This season's call to bar featured 5 of my dearest friends so it's been the most special call to bar I've witnessed since I began to understand what a call to bar ceremony is; maybe it's because I know how much they've worked and all the set backs they had to face, but seeing each of them robed has been such a blessing for me.
So I'm going to be sharing some lessons I've learnt from watching the lives of these my friends and their journeys towards becoming the Lawyers they are today.
The first thing I've learnt from their lives, a lesson God's been intent on teaching me, is the importance of God's timing. Coincidentally, all these friends of mine had to wait at home, for no fault of theirs, before going to law school. It's not a palatable experience, even for those who have academic issues that prevent them from going to law school, then imagine now these people that didn't have any issues. I imagine how hard it must have been for them. But as I watched them get called to the bar, virtually of course seeing as I'm currently in law school myself, I realize that the delay was a blessing in disguise. I look at all they've accomplished with their lives, the growth and strength that God has wrought in them through this experience and I realize now that it was worth it; it may not have seemed that way at the time, personally I railed against any and everybody or system responsible for making them wait like they did. But now, looking at these fine lawyers, I see what God was doing and it is indeed marvelous in our sight. There's a lot God wouldn't have done in them if they had gone to law school immediately they finished and their lives are infinitely richer for this waiting experience.
Another lesson I've learnt from them, and this is a daily source of encouragement in this trying law school period because law school do be a lot, is that it's possible to not just do well in law school, but to ace the program. I've been overwhelmed with the amount of work that this law school entails, and sometimes, despair secretly sneaks into my heart and has me panicking and anxious. But then God reminds me of these ones who have blossomed so well from these same trying conditions, especially those wey go this Port-Harcourt Campus, and I realize that I'll be alright. It's not impossible for me too to ace this thing because God that did it for them is definitely going to do it for me too.
The final lesson I've learned from these friends of mine is the importance of having people who have gone before you. As I began to prepare to come to law school, from registration –while they were still in law school, they've been intentional about walking me through the law school experience, giving me necessary advice and hacks on how to deal with this law school, sending me materials and generally ensuring that I dey alright. They've told me the mistakes they made and how I can escape them, they've told me the things they wished they knew, even recommending the church I now attend here in Port-Harcourt: they've given me so much encouragement that has been really helpful to me, and the best part is that if they had not been my immediate seniors as they now are, overtaking events would have prevented their advice and help from being truly helpful to me. So I guess it was also for my sake that God orchestrated events like He did.
Last last, all I'm saying is that as of today 7th March, 2024, I know:
B. I. Iorkua, Esq.
K. T. Gozhak, Esq.
S. E. Ekefan, Esq.
M. D. Dimas, Esq.
And

Let me just tell you that God is such a faithful God! These ones are proof! And if you have any business transactions, I can assure you that these lawyers I have listed will do an amazing job for you, trust me on this.
Also, join me to celebrate my friends and say a prayer for them.
