His! Not yours!

Hello, how are you? How's the new month going?

Welcome to today's gist.

Yesterday started well for me till a Keke man spoilt my mood by informing me that Bola Tinubu had been declared the winner of Saturday's presidential election. To say I was pained is probably an understatement but I'll say I was pained, and that's for lack of a better way of describing how I felt.

As the day got continued, I thought again and again about the elections and I wondered why God allowed things to turn out like they did, then I remembered that I had prayed for His will to be done in the elections; but as I prayed, I had prayed that Peter Obi was His will, and maybe he was, we all know the election was massively rigged to get Tinubu into power but God allowed it for some reason.

As I thought of this, I remembered hearing someone say what a dangerous thing it is to pray that God's will be done over your life. Don't misunderstand me, it's a correct prayer to pray, it's just that sometimes we say this prayer without fully grasping the implications of what we are saying.

Think of Jesus in Gethsemane, He knew that His death was imminent, yet He asked God that God's will be done and what was God's will? It was that Jesus, His only Son, face death on the cross. So, as He prayed in submission to God's will, He knew that God's will being done would cause Him to go through immense pain and eventual death.

But here's the thing: JESUS ACCEPTED GOD'S WILL! Most times I find that after praying to God to let His will be done, I find it very difficult to accept His will especially when it doesn't align with my plans. So I begin to circumvent His will, trying to tweak it a little to make it align with my own plans when it should be the other way round –it should be my will aligning with His. The thing is, I know in my head that I should allow His will, that His will is best because He knows all that will result from my decision to follow, or refute, His will. So when He's guiding me into His will, He's doing so because He knows the benefits I will reap from following after all, if Jesus had refused to die, we won't have found Salvation through Him and all power may not have been given to Him.

So, these days I'm trying to be more intentional about allowing God's will over my life prevail without trying to tweak it to my plans after all Solomon says the end of the way that 'seems' right to a man is destruction and that's because the way only seems right, it isn't right.

Truthfully, submitting to God's will when it goes a different direction from mine isn't easy; some days I pass, some days I fail but everyday I resolve to do better. I tell Him always when I ask for something that I pray His will prevails even when mine is different because His will is the best.

I encourage you to join me today, and hereon, in making a conscious decision to submit to God's will even when it is at variance with yours. It's not the rosiest experience but it's the most beneficial!

May the month of March find us ready to receive God's blessings.

See you next week!

Love,

Achenyo.

PS. My birthday's in exactly 22 days!

PSS. I think you're due for a review of the goals you wrote down when the year began, go and check how far you've come towards achieving them and buckle up where necessary.
