WHO YOU BE

Well hello there!

How are you doing this fine day? I hope you're fine, and that God continues to be with you and direct you.

Welcome to today's gist.

I just finished rereading Brooke St James "Delicate Balance" and I saw something that I probably have seen in the two other times I read the book but it still hit me this time. Let me just stop and say I should have a Brooke St James' Loyalist medal because among all the books she's written which would be at least 40, the ones wey I never read will be just about 5, if e reach, and that's because I haven't found those ones yet. Anyway, I thought to share what I learned anew in this book.

The Bible is filled with many statements of God's Kingship, it tells us over and again that God is King and that He reigns over the entire universe, having dominion over all. Another thing the Bible tells us is that God is our Father, and since God is our Father, it means that you and I who have Him in us are Royalty like He is –princes and princesses by Divine adoption.

I want you to think of Prince Williams, and Princess Anne of England for a bit; think of the prestige ascribed to them, think of the certainty they have of their identity, think of their carriage and the comportment with which they carry themselves –they know they are Royalty and they behave exactly like who they are, no matter where you find them, you cannot catch them behaving like ordinary people, now I don't say this to make them look like superhumans, I say this to make a point that they behave like the Royals they are (let's leave Harry and his wife out of this for the point we're trying to make). But you know what? Me and you who are God's children, we are of a more prestigious and grand royal stock than the Earthly one people like Prince Williams enjoy.

We are heirs of God's Kingdom, set to inherit the fullness of Heaven and the goodness of the Earth, but how many times do you catch yourself behaving like a bondservant, you who are born of God!

I've found that one reason why we find ourselves in positions of compromise and servitude to the world is that we sometimes forget who we are and the fact that we are to walk in the light of that identity. Now I'm not saying you won't have rough patches, the system of the world makes it impossible for that to be the case. However, in the midst of the experiences of the world –good, bad and everything in between, there is an expectation that we carry ourselves like the Royals we are –there is a standard we are held by and we shouldn't be acting below it. No matter how hungry Prince Williams is, you won't find him foraging through a trash can for food, no matter how delicious the food may be; that's because he knows who is, you won't find Princess Anne wearing  sackcloth, no matter how beautifully designed the sackcloth is because she knows who she is and she knows that someone of her standing should never be found in sackcloth no matter how beautiful it may be.

There a lot of things in the world that are designed to entice you into forgetting who you are, and consequently make you act out of character with your status in Christ: it may be feelings, relationships, hard times, good times, possible opportunities, music, movies, friends, family, books, comments and popular opinions... the list is long! But in the midst of all these "lower your standards" enticements, I want to encourage you to remember who you are; write it and paste it if you need to, tell yourself everyday –not just in your mind but out loud, remind yourself at every opportunity that you are the son or daughter of The King and you should act accordingly, don't allow yourself act below the standard. Don't let situations push you in unroyal behavior, rather use your reactions to the enticements of the world to bring the Royal flair into the situation you find yourself in.

And if you're like me and you've done quite a number of things that are not in accordance with your royal calling, I'm encouraging you to come out, like I've done, from those less-than-royal behaviour, it's never too late to begin to act line who you are in Christ, leave those behaviors that are unbecoming of heirs to God's Kingdom and begin to walk in the light of your heritage.

But if you do not know who you are in Christ, the first step is in finding yourself in Him, you can't act like who you are when you don't even know who you are. I've always said that one problem we have is our tendency to look for ourselves in everywhere but in God. The thing is you can only truly know yourself and find yourself in God: He formed you cell-by-cell in your mother's womb, He knows you way more than you know yourself so come to Him and let Him tell you who you are and when He tells you, walk in that light. I said that one of the things God taught me last year was finding my place in Him and since I've found that, it has become easier to walk in that consciousness.

Dem say Lion no dey born goat, so Child of God I say to you, walk like who you be!

See you next week!

Love,

Achenyo.

Meanwhile, go out and vote Peter Obi on Saturday, don't just pray about it, act!
