WISHES AREN'T HORSES
We all want change! We all want things to begin to work, we can all sit down and gist among ourselves how things should work out to be better than they are but most of the time, we never go beyond thinking, wishing and talking.
Hello there!
How are you doing? Hope the last 7 days have been well for you? If not, I pray God comes through for you how you need Him to.
Welcome to today's gist.
Time and again I've had to be in situations where me and others would agree on a thing and when it's time for implementation or to speak out, everyone else would slink back and let me take the wahala that may arise. And I know I'm not the only one that has faced this kind of situation. This habit of wanting something good to happen but refusing to be the poster child for that change is one that has slowly caused us to remain redundant and it's usually so subtle it's easy to overlook. Recently I was in a meeting where myself and a few other people had decided on something before hand but when we got into the meeting, it was only me and my friend that everyone expected to begin to speak. Now they all wanted the same thing we did, they just didn't want to be the ones to 'offend' others to have it, never mind that the offence really isn't an offence.
I think we have to be willing to do more than just wish change will happen or complain about the people doing wrong, we must be willing to go the step further and engage in activities that will help set the motion in place for the achievement of the change we want. There's really no need to continue to massage the egos of people doing something wrong because we want to stay on their good side: the good side of a bad side is still a bad side (I hope that makes sense to you).
One philosopher stated, and I paraphrase, that it is the silence of good people that causes evil to thrive so don't assume you can just sit back and will evil away, it will go nowhere until you take actions to get rid of it; do something to make sure it doesn't happen again. They say if wishes were horses, beggers would ride; since they aren't, beggers have found a means of transportation, we should too!
I really hope my thoughts make the kind of sense they make in my head to you too.
Till next week.
Love,
Achenyo.
