NO BE FOR MOUTH

Hello! How are you doing this fine day?

Welcome to today's gist.

I recently watched "Redeeming love".Now, there are a lot of lessons to be drawn from the movie, or the book if you have read it, but the one that has began to resonate newly for me was the fact that love pushes us to make sacrifices. One specific part that drove it home for me was Angel's decision to leave Michael so he could fall in love with Miriam and marry her. At this point in the story Angel could even admit that she had fallen in love with Michael, in fact the book alludes to the fact that it was to the point where she thought of him as her god. She knew and understood how painful it would be for her, how empty her life would become, but she was willing to deny herself the pleasure of Michael's presence in her life so she could gift him something he desired, but would have done without, that she 'could not' give him (you really need to read the book, or at the least, watch the movie). 1 Corinthians 13: 5 tells us that love is not self seeking; this means that one of the ways we show love is that we put the interest of the object of our love before ours. Now this goes against our natural configuration and desire as humans because we are somewhat engineered toward seeking our own desires and gain first, then here comes love! Telling, mandating actually, you to deny yourself to make someone else happy or comfortable. The true test of love isn't saying "I love you", it is in saying "I need this xyx but ABC needs it more so I will go without it for their sake". It won't be easy, but it will be worth it. I've discovered that no matter how discomforting it is at the instance to go out of your way for those you love, there's this warm and beautiful feeling it leaves with you later, just knowing that you were able to be there for them in that way.

No matter how hard it is, I encourage you to try to let your actions lend truth to your declarations of love because love is actually in the doing!

That's all I have to say today, so see you next week!

Love,

Achenyo.
