BROKEN POTS, SHATTERED HEARTS

Hi! I hope you're doing good. Welcome to today's gist.

So, I recently learned about this myth (I have no idea where it originated from). It told the story of a woman who had two pots; one that was whole and another with a crack. Everyday, she took these pots to the village well and filled them with water, but because one of these pots had a crack, it would leak all the way home and by the time she got home, she would have one full pot and a pot that was only half-filled. She continued in this pattern for years until one day the broken pot had enough and he asked her "Why do you continue to use me day after day?" it asked, "you know I can barely hold the water you put in me. Why don't you just go get a new pot?" In reply, the woman adjusted the pot to an angle where it could see the path she walked along everyday "See all those beautiful flowers along the path? Everyday, I use you to water these flowers." So while the pot was busy feeling useless everyday, it had been unknowingly growing a beautiful garden along the path! All the pot could see was it's inadequacies while the woman was seeing it's potential to create something beautiful in the most unlikely of places.

Too many times, we get too fixated on all the things that are wrong with our lives; the mistakes we've made, the wickedness that has been done against us, unfair treatment we've received, terribly harsh and downgrading words we've been told, that we begin to buy the devil's lie about our worthlessness; and because we're so focused on all that is wrong or going wrong with us, we do not see all the beautiful things God is creating through our broken state. God won't wait until I become perfect and have it all together before He uses me to do something amazing, He will do it despite, or maybe because of, my messed up life. For me, reading about this was an assurance God was giving me that He's got use for me in my very broken state. For the past few days, I've been out-of-sorts about  a lot of things, and I really needed to know this.

So, if you're like me and have been feeling pretty, or completely, worthless and useless, God is telling you today that He sees you as priceless and completely use-able, He sees your potential to do something beautiful and it will be all the more precious because it will come from your "broken pot" so just hang in there, it will all soon make sense to you.

I hope you've found my mostly jumbled thoughts meaningful and helpful, and may God help you see yourself as precious as He sees you -His lens are after all the best medium to see yourself through.

Till next week!

Love,

Achenyo.
