Time like this

 Hey there! 

How are you doing? Hoping you're good and "aal izz well" with you. So, into the gist.

I was rereading Brooke St James' "Something Precious" and an interesting conversation took place there that I thought to share. It was Jana telling Jake about a conversation she had with Kristen (you should read the book). So, Kristen said she always used to say that if she'd been around during the America Civil War or any of the World Wars, she would have done something to help the refugees and provide for them. She kept saying that until a thought hit her! She may not have been alive during either of these periods in time but she was here now, she was born for a time like this. So, rather than keep talking about all the things she could have done in the periods before, she decided that she was going to look for opportunities now to make the most impact in the lives of those around her, and make the most of those opportunities. This hit me, because I'm typically one of those people who can go on and on complaining about about people not using the opportunity and platform available to them to do good, typically referring to people who have big platforms and opportunities, all the while forgetting that there are opportunities available to me to do good and help those around me. I may not have been born during the Nigerian Civil War, but I was born specifically for a time like this, where Nigeria is in the worst shape she's been and steadily getting worse; I may not have the extra large platforms, but I can do my own little bit to help those around me, people should have their lives impacted positively for meeting me, and I've decided that from now on, I'll be looking for opportunities to cause a positive impact in the lives of those around me. Mother Theresa said (and I paraphrase) we may not be able to change the tides of the waters but we can certainly cause ripples in the sand: that's what I plan on doing because I was born for a time like this, to cause a positive impact in my time, and I do not have to wait to be Elon Musk or Ronaldo to do it.  

And as I work towards this, I'm challenging you too, look for opportunities to to make the lives of those around you better and make use of those opportunities. After all, we were all born for a time like this!
